COURSE INFO & COURSE MAPS
SWIM
Distance: 800 Yards (all distances approximate)
Route:
- This triangularly shaped course uses two large turn buoys
- Enter the water down a boat ramp
- Swim east to the first turn buoy
- Turn right (south) around the first buoy
- Swim the second leg, angling toward shore to second turn buoy
- Turn 180 degrees and swim toward the swim exit boat ramp
Water Temperature: Expected to be 60-65 degrees

NOTES: There are restrictions related to swimming in Lake Washington. Swimming is permitted in designated areas only.
BIKE
Distance: 12 miles (all distances are approximate)
Bike Route:
- The out and back bike course begins as participants exit the transition through the start scaffolding on Lake Washington Blvd.
- Outbound cyclists head north on Lake Washington Blvd
- Proceed to Day Street, making a 90 degree left turn onto Day Street
- Make an immediate 90 degree right turn onto the I-90 access road.
- This is a particularly narrow and technical part of the course.
- All cyclists, in both directions, must ride single file on the I-90 access road.
- Outbound cyclists will benefit by downshifting prior to the turn at Day Street.
- Once onto I90, Outbound cyclists ride east at a gradual incline to a turn around point.
- Cyclists then return to the finish on the same course
- Enter the transition area through the finish scaffolding.
RUN
Distance: 3.1 miles (all distances are approximate)
Route:
- Exit the north field of Genesee Park on east side of transition area
- Run southbound on Lake Washington Blvd toward Seward Park
- Turn around at about Orcas Street
- Run northbound on Lake Washington Boulevard
- Turn onto Genesee Way
- Run up a short hill to Genesee Street
- Travel west on the westbound side of Genesee Street
- Enter fenced vehicle storage lot of the Seattle Parks facility
- Finish at south end of Genesee Park .

Race Day Parking - SAFECO FIELD PARKING GARAGE
- Our goal is to reduce the event's impact to parking and traffic congestion in the neighborhoods surrounding Genesee Park, and to foster mutual respect between the community and event participants.
- To achieve this goal, event organizers have developed an off-site parking and shuttle service program.
- Street parking is prohibited in neighborhoods surrounding Genesee Park on Sunday, August 15th.
- Therefore, we ask that both participant and spectator use the off-site parking and shuttle service to get to and from the event.

THERE ARE NO DROP-OFFS ALLOWED ON SOUTH GENESEE STREET.
Off-site parking is located at the Safeco Field Parking Garage.

Safeco Field Parking is $10 (CASH ONLY) for this event.
- Please have exact amount available for cashiers.
- Arrive early on race day to give yourself plenty of time (allow a generous 30 minutes to arrive at the transition area from the parking lot).
- When arriving at off-site parking, follow the directions of traffic and parking monitors.

Race Day Shuttle Service Information
- Parking Shuttle service runs continuously from 5:15am to 12:30pm.
- Allow a generous 30 minutes to park, ride the shuttle and walk to the transition area.

BIKE PICK UP - Sunday, August 15th
Post Race Bike Pickup Zone Information
- A 10-minute bike pick-up zone is located on S Genesee Street between 42nd and 46th Avenues S.
- Participants may meet a driver here with a vehicle returning from off-site parking.
- The bike pick-up zone is open from 9:00am to 1:30pm and is monitored by the Seattle Police Department.
- Follow all directions given by police officers.

Do NOT double park in this area. Vehicles will be issued a citation and towed.

Drivers must stay with their vehicle.
- Drivers will be asked to circle the block after 10 minutes until the participant they are picking up has arrived.
- The bike pick-up zone is for accompanied participants.
- Participant's support person(s) return to Off-site parking via the shuttle service, retrieve their vehicle and return to Genesee Park to pick up the participant and their gear in the bike pick-up zone. (See below for directions to return to I-5 after bike pickup.)
- Those participants having arrived alone to the Race without someone to return to the Park with a vehicle may park at nearby Hawthorne Elementary School, located 1 block north of Genesee Ave S on Cascadia after returning from off-site parking.

- Head East on Edgar Martinez Drive (Formerly S Atlantic St)
- Merge onto the I-90 East ramp
- Take the Rainier Ave S exit
- Turn Right (South) at Rainier Ave S – go 2 miles
- Turn Left (East) at S Genesee St – go .4 mile
Direction To Hawthorne School Playground for drivers to park and pick-up:
- Head East on Edgar Martinez Drive (Formerly S Atlantic St)
- Merge onto the I-90 East ramp
- Take the Rainier Ave S exit
- Turn Right (South) at Rainier Ave S – go 2 miles
- Turn Left (East) at S Genesee St – go .4 mile

Race Materials Pick Up/Expo - Saturday, Aug 14th
- The Exhibition Hall is centrally located on Mercer Street near McGaw Hall (and just below Pacific Northwest Ballet) at 301 Mercer Street in Seattle.
- There are a number of pay parking lots as well as street parking available within walking distance of the Exhibition Hall.
- The Mercer Street Garage is located between 3rd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North and Mercer Street and Roy Street (just across the street from the Exhibition Hall).
- There is a sky bridge that connects the garage to McGaw Hall and the Exhibition Hall.

Driving North or South on Interstate 5 (I-5):
- Take Exit 167, the Mercer Street/Seattle Center exit.

- Turn left on Roy Street
- Turn left on Third Avenue North
- Make a left into the parking garage.
From the Ferry Terminal:
- Exit to the left (north) from the terminal on Alaskan Way

- Take Highway 99 north

ALL BICYCLES MUST BE RACKED ON SATURDAY
- Bicycles and helmets must be checked in on Saturday, other items can be brought on Sunday.
- Race numbers must be affixed to bicycles and helmets prior to entry into the transition area.
- Rack bicycle in designated section based upon your race number.
- Bikes may be racked in any row within that section.
- Only athletes who are body marked and have a race number affixed to their bicycles are allowed into the transition area.
- Absolutely, no family, kids or friends are allowed in the transition area. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- No parking on Lake Washington Boulevard.·
- Respect other athletes and economize on space for transition items.·
- Maximum 10 bikes to a rack.

MORNING OF THE RACE
- Once your area is organized, proceed to Swim Start.
- No bike warm up is allowed on the morning of the race.
- NO BIKES WILL BE ALLOWED IN ON RACE MORNING
ENTRY ON SUNDAY
- Tech support is located within Transition Area
- Exit to Swim Start: Near Swim Finish on northwest end of Transition Area.
- Porto-lets are provided for convenience inside Transition Area and at Swim Start
TRANSITION AREA CONDUCT DURING THE RACE
- Listen and follow instructions from race officials and volunteers.
- When moving in the Transition Area – always stay right in the lanes!!!
- There will be a great deal of traffic!
- Absolutely, no family, kids or friends are allowed in the transition area. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Riding is not permitted in the Transition Area.
- Walk or run only.
- Mount and dismount bicycles outside of Transition Area.
- Keep alleys clear and clean.
- Watch out for other athletes moving through Transition Area.
- Helmets must be securely fastened before mounting and dismounting your bicycle
- NO glass bottles or containers are allowed in Transition Area.
- Clean up area before leaving.
- Take out what you brought.
- Exit only through designated EXIT areas.
- Do not hand bike over the fence.
- This is for your security.
- Bike number will be verified against race number when removing bike from the area.
RELAY TEAMS
- Use relay area (NW corner of section L) ONLY to hand off.
- Pass timing chip to team member.
- DO NOT remove bicycles until team has finished the triathlon.
